Fatal head-on crash during pursuit in Baytown; 2 injured
A deadly crash on Friday evening has resulted in the closure of State Highway 146 in Baytown from Kilgore to Devinwood. Baytown police reported that a reckless BMW driver was spotted speeding on State Highway 146 near Alexander Drive. The driver refused to stop when officers attempted to pull them over and continued northbound, eventually entering Chambers County jurisdiction where the pursuit was taken over by the Chambers County Sheriff's Office. The BMW was later involved in a head-on collision near Crystal Boulevard, resulting in the death of the male driver who was ejected from the vehicle - he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two individuals in the other vehicle involved in the crash were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the deceased driver has not been disclosed. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident.
