Fatal head-on collision on U.S. 17, teenagers involved
Florida Highway Patrol units responded to a tragic head-on collision that happened on Saturday evening south of State Road 40 on U.S. Highway 17. The collision led to the fatality of one driver and left the other driver in critical condition. The incident involved a 16-year-old girl driving a 2020 Honda Civic who was traveling northbound on U.S. 17 when she tried to overtake other vehicles. Sadly, the Civic ended up in the southbound lane where it collided head-on with a 2001 International 4700 truck coming in the opposite direction. The impact was severe and resulted in the death of the Civic driver. The 34-year-old driver of the truck sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center for medical care. The accident is currently being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.
