Fatal head-on collision on Route 288 in Goochland County
Virginia State Police are looking into a tragic collision on Route 288 in Goochland County that led to the passing of a 65-year-old woman. The incident, which occurred on a Saturday night, involved two vehicles on Route 288 southbound close to Tuckahoe Creek Parkway. Initial findings suggest that a vehicle traveling northward on Route 288 veered across the median and struck a southbound vehicle head-on. The driver of the southbound vehicle, Cynthia Diggs, lost her life at the scene, while a passenger from her vehicle was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment. The individuals from the northbound vehicle were also transported to VCU Medical Center. The crash caused the closure of all southbound lanes, but these were reopened around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday. The authorities continue to investigate the incident.
