Fatal head-on collision involving semi-truck in Groveland
A tragic incident occurred on SR-50 in Groveland, resulting in the loss of a 24-year-old man's life during a collision with a semi-truck. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the young driver was heading east on SR-50 when he failed to navigate a curve near Sloans Ridge Rd shortly before 10:30 on Sunday night. Subsequently, his vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes, directly colliding with the oncoming semi-truck. The collision caused his car to catch fire, and despite efforts, he was declared deceased at the scene. The semi-truck driver, a 69-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
