Fatal Head-On Collision in St. John the Baptist Parish
A tragic accident occurred in St. John the Baptist Parish on Tuesday, September 23, resulting in the loss of Patricia Saidu, a 21-year-old woman from Baton Rouge. The Louisiana State Police reported that the crash, which also left another individual seriously injured, was caused by a GMC Yukon entering the I-10 in the wrong direction from US 51 in Laplace. This led to a head-on collision with a Nissan Altima traveling in the correct lane, causing both vehicles to catch fire. The driver of the GMC sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Saidu, unfortunately, sustained serious injuries and passed away at the scene of the accident.
