Fatal head-on collision claims life of 27-year-old man in Nottoway County

In Nottoway County, Virginia, a tragic two-vehicle collision occurred resulting in the death of a 27-year-old individual. The incident took place at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, July 28, on Route 40, approximately two miles east of Dobbins Bridge Road. According to authorities, Cody Peyton, 27, from Louisa County was driving an eastbound Chevrolet Impala on Dobbins Bridge Road when a Nissan traveling westbound, operated by Stephanie Powell, 40, from Halifax, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Impala. Peyton, Powell, and a passenger in the Nissan, a 30-year-old woman from Blackstone, were all transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Peyton passed away while being transported to the hospital. Charges are currently pending as the Virginia State Police continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
