Fatal Florida Crash: 4 killed, 11 wounded as car speeds into crowd
A Dade City, Florida man is facing multiple felony charges following a tragic crash in Ybor early Saturday morning that resulted in the death of four individuals, according to the Tampa Police Department. The incident began at approximately 12:40 a.m. when police aviation units observed two vehicles racing on Hillsborough Avenue towards Interstate 275. One of the vehicles veered off while the other continued south on I-275. Despite efforts by the Florida Highway Patrol to intervene with a traffic stop and a PIT maneuver, the speeding car could not be stopped. The vehicle eventually crashed near Bradley's bar in Ybor City, causing casualties among bystanders. Authorities reported that three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, with a fourth passing away at the hospital. Several others were injured, with one individual in critical condition and eight receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities in stable condition. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Silas Sampson, was apprehended at the crash site and is facing a total of eight felony charges, including vehicular homicide and aggravated fleeing with serious bodily injury. Prior to this incident, Sampson had previously been cited for speeding in Hillsborough County.
