Fatal crashes involving pedestrian, motorcyclist, and DUI arrest on holiday weekend

Over the holiday weekend, there were two tragic incidents in Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley resulting in the deaths of a motorcyclist and a pedestrian due to separate collisions. Local authorities are currently investigating both cases. The first collision occurred on Sunday evening at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 11th Street in Huntington Beach. A Land Rover LR3 collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle while attempting to make a left turn. The motorcyclist, identified as Emilio Martin Espinosa, 21, of Pico Rivera, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries despite being transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Land Rover cooperated with the police and was not found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Charges were not immediately filed against the driver. In the second incident on Monday afternoon in Fountain Valley, an adult male pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Camry at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Newhope Street. The pedestrian, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, tragically passed away from his injuries. The driver, Bruce Huynh Schlusemeyer, was arrested for suspected DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter, and possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding these incidents to reach out to the Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley Police Departments.
