Fatal crash on SH 349 claims two lives, including a child
MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - Two people were killed in a crash, including a 7-year-old child, and three were left injured on SH 349 in Martin County after 8 PM Thursday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Preliminary investigation showed Mariano Molinar, 23, driving a 2022 Dodge Challenger, was driving northbound on SH 349 when he allegedly performed a U-turn and struck a 2009 Ford F-150, which was traveling southbound. Molinar was pronounced dead at the scene; he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the 2009 Ford F-150, identified as Carlos Tijerina, 50, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Two other passengers were also left injured, and a 7-year-old was killed. This crash is under investigation, and no other information is available at this time.
