Fatal crash on Route 322 in Juniata County leaves one dead, two airlifted to trauma centers

We now have information about the individual who passed away following a collision on Route 322 in Juniata County on August 8th. The Pennsylvania State Police have identified the deceased as an 82-year-old man named Glenn Compton from Mifflintown. Two others were hurt in the accident and were flown to trauma centers, as reported by the Mifflintown Hose Company. The incident occurred when traffic was at a standstill around 9:20 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Route 322, near Thompsontown. A Ram 2500 rear-ended a Lincoln MKZ, which then collided with the Peterbilt 579 in front of it. Sadly, Compton, who was driving the Lincoln, was declared dead at the scene. The passenger in the Lincoln and the Ram driver were flown to the hospital, and the severity of their injuries is not yet known. A section of Route 322 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. Authorities are investigating the fatal crash, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
