Fatal Crash on Route 16 in Milton
Early Friday morning, a tragic head-on collision on Route 16 in Milton resulted in the death of 77-year-old Edward Correia from Portsmouth. Another driver, a 67-year-old from West Ossipee, was seriously injured but his injuries were not life-threatening. The crash happened when Correia's vehicle, traveling in the wrong direction, collided with the other vehicle around 4:30 a.m. The southbound side of the highway was the scene of the collision where there are no median barriers. The cause of Correia's vehicle crossing into oncoming traffic is under investigation by the police. Route 16 between Exits 17 and 18 was closed for three hours following the crash.
