Fatal crash on Orange County highway injures children
A tragic accident occurred in Orange County on Friday involving a family traveling on Interstate 85/40. Sadly, a husband and wife lost their lives, while their two children suffered injuries. The crash took place near U.S. 70, and authorities reported that the vehicle, a 2018 Honda Odyssey, veered off the road, struck trees, and then hit a large tree. The front passenger, Maria Nunney, passed away at the scene, while her husband Donald Nunney died at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill after being airlifted there. The children, a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, survived and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are still uncertain about its cause. The highway was temporarily closed, but there were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
