Fatal crash on Lower Wacker Drive injures man, kills woman, according to police
A tragic incident occurred in the Loop neighborhood of Chicago on Thursday night when a woman lost her life and a man was injured in a traffic collision. The crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on Lower Wacker Drive. The collision involved a red SUV driven by a 56-year-old man with a 19-year-old male passenger. They were heading westbound on Lower Wacker when the SUV attempted to turn left and collided with an eastbound black sedan that had run a red light. Fortunately, the SUV occupants were unharmed and declined medical treatment. The driver of the sedan, also a 19-year-old man, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition. Tragically, the passenger in the sedan, a 19-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Currently, nobody has been arrested, and no traffic citations have been issued. The incident is under investigation by Major Accident detectives.
