Fatal crash on Interstate 94 in Detroit
A fatal accident near Allen Park led to the closure of a section of Interstate 94 in Metro Detroit for several hours on Wednesday. The crash occurred around 11:25 a.m. on the westbound side of I-94, close to Pelham Road in Wayne County. The driver, a 37-year-old man from Detroit, sadly did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. His 37-year-old female passenger sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The incident required support from various agencies, including Taylor Police, Taylor Fire, and the Michigan State Police Second District Traffic Crash Reconstruction team. The closure of westbound I-94 stretched from M-39/Southfield Road to U.S. 24/Telegraph Road, as per Michigan Department of Transportation traffic updates. State police confirmed the reopening of the freeway shortly before 4:15 p.m.
