Fatal crash on I-81 southbound prompts coroner response
Emergency responders were summoned to the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Interstate-81 (I-81) southbound in Rice Township on Saturday morning. Luzerne County authorities reported that the incident occurred near mile marker 160 around 11:30 a.m. Tragically, the Luzerne County Coroner confirmed that the crash resulted in a fatality with an ejection involved. A lane restriction is in place at this time as per PA511. The number of individuals affected and any further injuries remain unknown. The Pennsylvania State Police and Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department are currently managing the situation.
