Fatal crash on I-80 kills wrong-way driver from Altoona
A tragic incident occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 80 when a young man from Altoona, Zachary Scott Scothorn, was driving in the wrong direction and collided with two other vehicles near Altoona. Unfortunately, Scothorn, who was not wearing a seatbelt, lost his life in the crash, while three others were injured in the incident. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment. A portion of I-80 had to be closed for a few hours to assist the victims and clear the debris. Additionally, there were reports of two other incidents on I-80, including a crash involving a vehicle fire near Newton. Authorities are investigating these incidents to gather more details.
