Fatal crash on I-80 in Crockett blocks eastbound lanes Thursday
(KRON) -- A fatal crash on eastbound Interstate 80 in Crockett blocked the roadway Thursday morning for several hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. All lanes reopened at 7:10 a.m., Caltrans announced. Just before 4 a.m., authorities responded south of the Carquinez Bridge to reports of a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig, CHP’s incident log showed. At least three vehicles were involved, including the big rig, which was towing a load of 85,000 to 90,000 pounds. A coroner was requested at the scene. No further information on the fatality is known. Eastbound traffic was being diverted off of the interstate to Cummings Skyway. Motorists are advised to expect residual delays.
