A 27-year-old man from the Triad area was tragically killed in a collision, as reported by North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 6:35 a.m. in Iredell County on Interstate 77 S close to Interstate 40, where a Mitsubishi failed to slow down and collided with a Volvo semi-truck without a trailer. The impact of the crash also caused the semi-truck to hit a Chevrolet SUV. Jared Nelson, the driver of the Mitsubishi, lost his life due to the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries, while the SUV driver was thankfully unharmed. Authorities believe that excessive speed was a factor in the accident.
