Fatal crash on I-70 in Washington County leaves 2 dead, 1 seriously hurt
A tragic incident on Friday afternoon on Interstate 70 in Washington County resulted in the loss of two lives and left a third individual with serious injuries due to a head-on collision. The crash caused a shutdown of both directions near the Claysville exit for a period, but the interstate has since reopened. Pennsylvania State Police were alerted to the scene around 3 p.m. that day. According to authorities, a Hyundai sedan traveling eastbound on I-70 crossed the grass median into oncoming traffic, leading to a head-on impact with a westbound Ford SUV. Sadly, both drivers were pronounced deceased at the crash site, while a passenger from the SUV sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed. Law enforcement officials confirmed that specialized units are conducting a thorough investigation, including collision analysis, reconstruction, and forensic examinations.
