Fatal crash on I-5 involving 4 vehicles
A fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred in Marion County on Sunday afternoon, resulting in one fatality and one injury according to the Oregon State Police. The incident happened near milepost 272 when Didier Fuentes, 26, attempted to merge onto the freeway from Hwy 214 in a Chevy Silverado, which led to a collision with a semi-truck. The impact caused the semi-truck to veer across the freeway and hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which then crashed into the median. A Toyota Matrix driver managed to avoid the collision but was struck by debris, resulting in minor injuries. Sadly, Fuentes passed away at a local hospital. The crash is currently being investigated.
