Fatal crash on I-495 in Prince George’s County.
In Prince George's County, Maryland, a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 495, resulting in the death of an elderly woman and injuries to three other individuals. The crash, involving a Toyota and a Volkswagen, took place on the southbound lanes of I-495 near Temple Hills Road. Maryland State Police responded to the scene following reports of the collision just before 12:30 p.m. The initial investigation revealed that a Volkswagen veered off the road and collided with the parked Toyota on the right shoulder. The 80-year-old passenger of the Toyota was taken to the hospital and sadly passed away. The Toyota driver, a 65-year-old man, and another passenger, a 72-year-old woman, were also hospitalized, along with the 23-year-old Volkswagen driver. The incident is currently being investigated by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
