Fatal crash on Highway 287 at Dillon Road reported by Lafayette police
Lafayette Police Department reported a fatal crash on northbound Highway 287 at Dillon Road at around 6:23 a.m. on Monday. According to authorities, a Nissan pickup truck driver was traveling eastbound through the intersection on a green light when a driver in a Chevrolet pickup truck heading southbound went through a red light, causing the collision. Both vehicles collided with a traffic light pole due to the impact. Sadly, the 52-year-old man operating the Nissan truck lost his life at the scene, while the 56-year-old Chevrolet truck driver was hospitalized. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. The incident is currently being investigated with no arrests or citations issued as of 10:11 a.m. Monday. Lafayette PD urges morning commuters to anticipate delays in the area and consider alternate routes if possible.
