Fatal crash on Chicago's West Side follows car theft

A tragic incident occurred in Chicago's West Side when a carjacking led to a fatal crash in the Garfield Park neighborhood. The collision occurred late on Tuesday evening on the 2800 block of West Van Buren. Law enforcement arrived to find a silver SUV had crashed into a tree after jumping the curb. Sadly, an unidentified male inside the vehicle was discovered unresponsive and was confirmed dead at the scene. Authorities revealed that the stolen SUV was involved in a carjacking just 10 minutes prior in the 4200 block of South Artesian. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the carjacking incident. Area Four Detectives are currently handling the investigation.
