
Fatal crash on Cherokee Road leaves 1 woman dead and 2 injured
A tragic accident on Cherokee Road in Johnson City Friday morning resulted in the loss of one woman's life and injuries to two others, as reported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). This incident, involving three vehicles, occurred at 7:35 a.m. on State Highway 67 (Cherokee Road) close to Lone Oak Road. The THP shared that a Kia Spectra and a Ford Flex were heading westbound on Cherokee Road, while a Hyundai Kona was traveling in the opposite direction. Following a collision between the Kia and the Ford, the Ford veered across the center line and collided head-on with the Hyundai. Madison Bowman, 39, who was in the Kia, tragically lost her life in the accident. A 23-year-old woman driving the Hyundai and a 27-year-old woman driving the Ford sustained injuries, while three juveniles in the Ford were fortunately unharmed. Everyone involved was wearing seatbelts, and the juveniles were properly secured in child restraint devices, according to the THP. The THP stated that the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
