Fatal crash on 605 Freeway in Norwalk believed to involve DUI
Authorities report that a tragic accident occurred on Sunday on the 605 Freeway in Norwalk, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to at least two others. The California Highway Patrol has determined that a driver under the influence was responsible for causing the fatal crash. California Highway Patrol Officer Zachary Salazar emphasized the importance of making better choices to prevent such incidents, stating that the tragedy could have been avoided if not for one of the drivers being intoxicated. Salazar expressed condolences to the families affected by the accident. The crash, which occurred at around 1 a.m. near Rosecrans Avenue, involved the intoxicated driver colliding with a stalled vehicle, which then caught fire and resulted in the deaths of all four occupants. The driver believed to be under the influence, along with a passenger, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The intoxicated driver is expected to be charged with DUI causing injury. As the investigation continued, authorities kept all southbound lanes of the 605 Freeway closed from Firestone Boulevard to Rosecrans Avenue throughout Sunday morning.
