Fatal crash on 101 Freeway in Studio City causes 2 deaths
Two individuals lost their lives in an overnight collision on the 101 Freeway in Studio City, as reported by officials. The incident, involving multiple vehicles, occurred near the Tujunga Avenue exit on the westbound 101 Freeway around 2:30 a.m., close to the convergence of the 170 and 134 freeways. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Kia compact SUV was stationary on the freeway with its two occupants standing outside when a box truck collided with the vehicle, resulting in the fatal accident. Sadly, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, with one identified as an off-duty LA County sheriff's deputy. The circumstances that led to the SUV stopping and the occupants exiting remain unknown. The collision caused disruptions to traffic flow in the vicinity, prompting the closure of all lanes on the northbound 170 Freeway and the westbound 101 Freeway at the Tujunga exit, leading to diversions via Magnolia Boulevard and Moorpark Street. The identities of the deceased parties have not been made public, and the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
