Fatal crash occurs after DWI suspect evades traffic stop
After attempting to pull over a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 30 near Belt Line Road, police in Grand Prairie were involved in a fatal crash incident around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver of a Chevy Tahoe refused to stop and instead sped off in an express lane, eventually losing control near the Westmoreland Road exit where the vehicle struck a barrier wall and rolled multiple times. Tragically, the driver was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene. Alcohol containers were found in the vehicle, leading police to believe that the driver was intoxicated. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office will disclose the driver's identity once their family has been informed. Additionally, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
