Fatal crash near Cedar Springs injures two deputies

A fatal three-car crash occurred early Wednesday morning near Cedar Springs in Nelson Township. One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in the incident. The crash took place on Northland Drive between Coan Street NE and Ritchie Avenue NE. The Kent County Sheriff's Office reported that a car traveling south crossed into the northbound lanes, causing a collision with a northbound car, which then struck a second southbound car. The 63-year-old driver of the northbound car was pronounced dead at the scene. The at-fault driver, a 26-year-old man from Morley, and the driver of the second southbound car, a 37-year-old man from Trufant, sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment, one by Aero Med. Each car had only one occupant, according to officials. The deputies are still investigating the crash, and the identity of the deceased has not been released at this time. The office expressed their condolences to the man's family and friends.
