Fatal crash kills motorcyclist in Oakland County
A fatal traffic accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Orion Township, resulting in the death of a female motorcycle rider due to her injuries. The incident took place at around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Lapeer Road and Morgan Hill Drive. The victim, identified as Jennifer Marie Billington, 48, from Lake Orion Village, was traveling northbound on a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX motorcycle when she collided with a 2020 Dodge Caravan driven by a 42-year-old man from Royal Oak. The driver of the van failed to yield while entering the roadway from Morgan Hill Drive, leading to the impact on the driver's side of the van. First responders provided immediate medical assistance until the victim was transported to McLauren Oakland Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Billington was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, while the van driver, who was uninjured, was wearing a seatbelt. The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
