
Fatal crash involving school bus in Tippecanoe County
A tragic incident occurred in Tippecanoe County on Monday afternoon when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a school bus near State Road 43. The Indiana State Police were called to the scene around 1:30 p.m. where they found a bus from the Tippecanoe School Corporation involved in the crash. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian tried to cross the road near Speedway and Phillips 66 gas stations when they were struck by the northbound school bus. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office. The individual's identity will be released once their family has been notified. Fortunately, no students were on the bus at the time, and no other injuries were reported. The school bus driver, who has 27 years of experience, will not be operational during the investigation as per school procedures. The school district expressed sorrow over the accident and assured full cooperation with law enforcement. This incident is the second fatal school bus crash in central Indiana within a week, following a crash in Howard County on October 6th.
