Fatal crash involving motorcyclist on Interstate 75 near Dearborn Street
A fatal motorcycle crash occurred Tuesday night on Interstate 75 in Metro Detroit, resulting in the death of the rider. Michigan State Police reported that the motorcyclist was initially struck by a semi-truck and then hit by other vehicles after falling onto the pavement. Northbound traffic on I-75 was blocked at Schafer Highway overnight but reopened at 4:47 a.m., with motorists being allowed to re-enter at Springwells Street. The collision, reported around 10:30 p.m. near Dearborn Street, prompted multiple calls to the Detroit Regional Communications Center. The victim was confirmed dead by Detroit EMS and unfortunately had been struck multiple times. The semi-truck involved had fled the scene, but a 50-year-old truck driver later called dispatchers to report the incident, explaining that he had driven to Warren due to nerves. Michigan State Police emphasized the importance of staying at the scene of a traffic crash, not only as a legal obligation but also as a moral responsibility.
