Fatal crash involving impaired driver claims life of 4-year-old boy
Authorities confirmed that a tragic incident occurred in Nessel Township, north of Cambridge, where a four-year-old boy lost his life six days after a severe head-on collision involving seven individuals. The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the crash on Rush Lake Trail, south of Belle Isle Drive, at approximately 6:18 p.m. on March 14. Reports indicated that five children were among the seven individuals involved. It was reported that a 36-year-old woman, under suspicion of impairment pending toxicology results, was driving a Chevrolet Cruz northbound when she veered across the center line and collided head-on with a Chrysler Pacifica, which was carrying an adult female driver and three children. Both children in the Chevrolet Cruz were airlifted to a pediatric trauma center, where sadly, one of them, identified as Anthony J. Sobaski, passed away on Thursday. The occupants of the Chrysler Pacifica sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized. Following her release from the hospital, the Chevrolet Cruz's driver, the 36-year-old woman, was apprehended by Chisago County authorities and is currently in custody awaiting forthcoming charges.
