Fatal crash involving cyclist in southwest Bakersfield
A bicyclist tragically lost their life in a collision with a vehicle in southwest Bakersfield early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on Mohawk Street, where police responded to reports of the crash at 6:19 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the bicyclist had passed away at the scene. Reports indicate that the vehicle was heading north on Mohawk Street when the bicyclist, traveling west on Tomer Way, failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck. The driver stayed on-site and assisted with the investigation, with authorities stating that speed and impairment were not factors in the incident.
