Fatal crash into tree on Butler Road
The Fort Wayne Police Department is currently looking into a fatal crash that occurred on Butler Road that resulted in the death of a man on Saturday night. The incident, which involved a car crashing into a tree and catching on fire, took place around 7:40 p.m. Authorities, along with Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control, responded to the scene and used a fire extinguisher to contain the fire. The driver was found trapped inside the vehicle and was rescued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Despite efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police suspect that speed played a role in the crash and are investigating whether wet road conditions from recent rain were also a contributing factor. The area around the 2300 block of Butler Road was temporarily closed off but has since reopened as the investigation continues.
