Fatal Crash in Ybor Injures Multiple People

A man from Dade City has been charged with multiple felonies following a tragic incident in Ybor City which resulted in the death of four individuals early Saturday morning. The Tampa Police Department reported that the event began at 12:40 a.m. when two vehicles were observed racing by police air units on Hillsborough Avenue heading towards Interstate 275. One vehicle split off at the highway, while the other continued south on I-275. Despite attempts by law enforcement to stop the speeding car, the driver evaded capture and ultimately crashed near Bradley's, a gay bar in Ybor City, causing harm to several bystanders. Several individuals were injured, with three fatalities at the scene and another individual passing away in the hospital. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Silas Sampson, was apprehended at the scene and is facing eight felony charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing with serious bodily injury. Witnessing this devastating incident, law enforcement officers made efforts to engage with the driver but were unable to prevent the tragic outcome.
