Fatal crash in Winneshiek County
According to information from KCRG, a fatal accident occurred in Winneshiek County involving two vehicles colliding at Highway 52 and Town Line Road near Decorah. The crash, which took place on Thursday at 2:05 p.m., resulted in one death and one injury. Authorities stated that a semi truck failed to stop at a sign and collided with a car traveling south on Highway 52, impacting the semi truck's driver side. Further details about the incident have not been disclosed by investigators. The latest Iowa Department of Transportation data shows that 227 individuals have lost their lives in road accidents this year, a decrease of 67 from the same time in 2024. On average, 353 fatalities occur annually in statewide accidents over the past five years.
