
Fatal crash in Tuolumne County reported by CHP
According to the California Highway Patrol, a tragic accident occurred on Wednesday night in Tuolumne County's Sonora area, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuring another. The incident took place at the junction of Shaws Flat Road and Highway 49 at 5:54 p.m. The collision involved a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 56-year-old individual from Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, the Jeep crossed into the path of a northbound pickup truck, driven by an 18-year-old from Jamestown, traveling at 60 mph. The impact sent the Jeep spinning and eventually landing on the west shoulder of Highway 49. The driver of the Jeep and three passengers did not survive. The driver of the pickup truck suffered from moderate to major injuries. The CHP stated that they do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be involved in the crash.
