Fatal crash in St. Martin Parish claims two lives
Louisiana State Police Troop I is currently investigating a tragic accident that resulted in the death of two individuals in Breaux Bridge. The incident occurred on August 3, 2025, after 5:00 p.m., when a fatal collision took place on Interstate 10 East near Louisiana Highway 328. Cynthia Dinet, 66, from Gretna, and Elisa Lightell, 68, from Maurice, lost their lives in the crash. Initial findings indicate that a 2019 Ford Escape was parked on the right shoulder of I-10 with Dinet and Lightell nearby. Meanwhile, a 2013 Lexus GX460 was driving in the right lane of I-10 and, due to traffic congestion, swerved onto the right shoulder, colliding with the Ford and the two pedestrians. Both Dinet and Lightell suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. Standard toxicology samples were collected for further investigation.
