Fatal crash in St. Clair County leaves woman dead, 3 children hurt
A car accident in St. Clair County early Monday morning resulted in the tragic death of a Ragland woman named Vickie Franklin, 34, while also injuring three children. The incident occurred when the Nissan Maxima Franklin was driving veered off the road, hit an embankment, and overturned. Franklin, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The crash took place around 1:45 a.m. on Depot Street near Possum Trot Lane, west of the Coosa River. The passengers included a 12-year-old and a 4-year-old from Ragland, and a 10-year-old from Pell City. They sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital, while a 31-year-old passenger from Pell City was transported to UAB Hospital. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division investigated the tragic accident.
