Fatal crash in Santa Maria under investigation
Authorities in Santa Maria are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday evening, claiming the life of at least one individual. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Santa Maria division's social media update, the incident occurred at 9:10 p.m. on Saturday when a Dodge Charger travelling northbound on Highway 101 near the Main Street off-ramp veered off the highway at a high speed. The vehicle rolled and collided with a parked truck in the IHOP parking lot on Nicholson Avenue. As emergency responders attended to the scene, the Main Street off-ramp was temporarily closed. The identities of those involved in the crash have not been disclosed by the authorities as of yet.
