
Fatal Crash in Santa Cruz Mountains; Vehicle Ignites
The California Highway Patrol has reported a fatal car accident in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The incident occurred around 11:23 a.m. when a woman driving a sedan north on Highway 17, north of Jarvis Road, veered into the center median before colliding with a metal guardrail on the east shoulder. The vehicle caught fire, spreading briefly to nearby vegetation. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The cause of her death remains unknown. While the roads were closed for a period, they have since been reopened. The CHP is investigating the crash, including the possibility of the driver being under the influence.
