Fatal crash in Rio Linda involving 3 vehicles, according to CHP
A fatal accident involving three vehicles occurred in Rio Linda on Saturday night, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The incident took place on Rio Linda Boulevard near E Street just before 9:30 p.m. It was disclosed that a Scion xB was traveling in the wrong direction (southbound in the northbound lane), while a Chevrolet Tahoe and Dodge Ram were correctly heading northbound. Following a head-on collision between the Scion and the Chevrolet, the Dodge rear-ended the Chevrolet, according to CHP officials. Unfortunately, the driver of the Scion was declared dead at the scene. Another individual involved in the accident was transported to the hospital after expressing pain. CHP suspects that the Scion driver may have been driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, although a confirmed identification will need to be determined via an autopsy, as the driver did not survive the crash.
