Fatal crash in Rhode Island claims lives of 2 Connecticut residents

Two Connecticut residents lost their lives in a tragic accident on Interstate 95 in West Warwick, Rhode Island, as reported by Rhode Island State Police. The incident occurred late Saturday night when a silver Toyota veered off the highway, hitting a tree near Exit 21 on I-95 North. Emergency personnel had to extricate all six occupants of the vehicle. Ayanna Voyak, 19, of Hartford, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while Aisha Jules, 19, from New London, passed away at the hospital due to her injuries. The four other occupants sustained injuries and were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Conditions were rainy at the time of the crash, according to West Warwick Deputy Fire Chief Eric Norberg. Both individuals who lost their lives were seated in the rear of the vehicle. The Rhode Island State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the details of the accident with the assistance of WPRI.
