Fatal crash in Rancho Cucamonga claims elderly woman

Authorities are looking into a tragic incident where an elderly woman was fatally hit by a vehicle in San Bernardino County. The collision took place on June 26 at Vineyard Avenue and Church Street in Rancho Cucamonga around 9:13 p.m. The driver, 19-year-old Omar Ahmed of Rancho Cucamonga, was driving northbound on Vineyard Avenue and struck 80-year-old Patti Burns as she was crossing the street. Despite efforts to save her, Burns was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. While the cause of the accident is still being investigated, authorities do not suspect alcohol or drug involvement.
