
Fatal crash in Petaluma linked to suspected DUI and police pursuit led to teenager's death and 3 injuries
On Saturday night in Petaluma, a tragic incident involving a stolen vehicle pursuit resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy. A 17-year-old individual is suspected of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter in connection with the incident. The police first noticed a possible DUI driver on Lakeville Highway and attempted to stop the driver of the black Kia Sol after observing them swerve into oncoming traffic. The driver fled, prompting a police chase that unfortunately ended in a rollover crash. The four occupants of the vehicle, all teenagers, were ejected, with the 14-year-old boy losing his life at the scene. The other passengers, aged 15 and 16, were hospitalized and are in stable condition, along with the 17-year-old driver. The driver is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and will face multiple charges upon release from the hospital. The police have not yet released the identity of the deceased 14-year-old. All individuals involved are from Marin County, and the nature of their relationship is under investigation.
