Fatal crash in Osceola caused by semitruck collision: FHP

A tragic incident occurred in Osceola County on June 21 when an SUV carrying six individuals collided with a tractor-trailer and caught fire. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the accident took place on State Road 60, just before 4 p.m. Initially, a 2024 Hyundai Tucson with six occupants was traveling west of South Kenansville Road. Simultaneously, a 2011 semitruck driven by a 36-year-old man from Miami Gardens was heading eastbound on S.R. 60. The Tucson driver attempted to overtake multiple vehicles by moving into the eastbound lane. However, upon trying to return to the westbound lane, the SUV lost control, resulting in a collision with the tractor-trailer and subsequent ignition of both vehicles. Tragically, all six individuals inside the SUV, believed to include three adults and three children, perished on the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office is tasked with identifying the victims and informing the FHP. The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries in the collision.
