
Fatal crash in northern Iowa leaves one dead, two injured
The Iowa State Patrol is currently looking into a collision in Wright County that resulted in one fatality and two individuals being injured. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 7:15 p.m. on R-38, about 8 miles south of Clarion, when a driver traveling southbound lost control, veered into the east ditch, and collided with a utility pole and field drive, according to authorities. Sadly, one passenger lost their life in the accident, while two others sustained severe injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The details of the crash are being reviewed by investigators. As of the most recent statistics from the Iowa Department of Transportation, there have been 187 road-related deaths in the state this year, a decrease of 29 from the same period last year. On average, over the past five years, 353 individuals have lost their lives annually in crashes statewide.
