Fatal crash in Northern Cambria takes life of 17-year-old student, injures three others

A tragic incident occurred in Cambria County early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a Northern Cambria High School student and injuries to three others. The crash, which involved a single vehicle, took place on Nicktown Hill Road near Brick Lane in Barr Township. The Coroner confirmed that the victim, 17-year-old McKenna Gardner of Nicktown, was ejected from the vehicle and passed away at the scene. Gardner, a backseat passenger in the 2013 Ford Focus, was thrown 38 feet from the car. Among the survivors, one was airlifted to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, while two received treatment at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Gardner, a junior at Northern Cambria High School, was one of the four individuals involved in the crash, with three having ties to the school district. School authorities, including Principal Lisa Prebish, will inform families through the school's communication system about grief counseling support available starting Monday morning.
