Fatal crash in Leon County on Wednesday morning - KWKT
Two men from Bryan tragically lost their lives on Wednesday morning in Leon County when their SUV collided with an 18-wheeler. According to DPS Sgt. Justin Ruiz, the accident occurred around 5:58 a.m. on FM 39 and Leon County Road 344 near Jewett. The investigation revealed that the 18-wheeler was making a turn onto the county road when the Hyundai Santa Fe crashed into the trailer and ended up in a ditch. The two occupants of the Hyundai, identified as Matthew Sovick, 44, and Christopher Gorman, 49, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was unharmed. Notifications were made to the families of the victims by midday. The truck was transporting metal to a nearby steel plant at the time of the crash.
