Fatal crash in Kankakee County claims lives of 4 individuals, including 5-year-old.

A tragic crash in Kankakee County, Illinois claimed the lives of four individuals on Thursday night, including a 5-year-old girl from Champaign. The incident occurred in Reddick, near the intersection of 18000 West and 2000 South Road, involving two vehicles with two occupants each. According to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office, witnesses reported a 2021 Honda Accord driving recklessly, crossing the center line at a high speed before colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Equinox, resulting in both vehicles becoming engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, all occupants were unable to be saved. The Sheriff's Office emphasized the importance of safe driving habits and expressed condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. The investigation, currently assisted by the Illinois State Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit, is ongoing, with the victims' identities withheld until next of kin notification by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office.
